Neolithic clothing project seeks to provide the general public a rough understanding of how Neolithic people of various cultures and times may have appeared. Each culture has been divided into four seasons, with three relevant tasks, such as winter hunting or summer harvest.

Clothing ranged from simple leather garments to quite complex textiles. NeolithicClothing.com is a project designed to help combat these inaccuracies by displaying a high quality, and accurately produced examples of Neolithic clothing.

While not all textiles are woven on a loom, the holes in the ground used to hold up a loom, called post holes, and the weights used to hold the vertical loom strings taut, have been found at Linear Pottery Culture sites, as well as the majority of Neolithic sites.

We find our villagers dressed in warm winter clothing in this scene, including fur coats made from fox and wolf pelts. They are armed with a traditional Neolithic bow and arrows.

In this scene, we find our villagers wearing comfortable clothing for spending most of their time in the longhouse. They will craft what they need for the coming year for trade and replace what is already broken.

Neolithic bows were rather long, often 150-180cm (5-6'), and generally of simple design, lacking more modern features, such as recurving. This bow was made from one long (160cm) yew wood stave with a deer sinew bowstring.

Farming and the domestication of animals are vital properties of the Neolithic revolution, and the Linear Pottery Culture engaged in both. Crops of peas, emmer and einkorn wheat, lentils, and possibly flax were grown.

Far from just local trade between villages, the Neolithic saw the exchange of rare and exotic goods across Africa, Europe, Asia, and associated places. One example of such trade is shells from the Mediterranean found in Linear Pottery Culture people's burials.
