On our first visit, we stayed on the US side and crossed the border to visit Skylon Tower on the Canadian side. For our second visit, we crossed the Rainbow Bridge, suitcases and all, and stayed on the Canadian side.

You can cross the border through the Rainbow Bridge on foot and it offers a breathtakingly wide view of the Niagara gorge, its waterfalls and the Niagara Falls, Ontario skyline. The 1,450 ft (442 meter) walk across the bridge costs a nominal $1 (US or Canadian) and will take about 30 minutes or more depending on traffic.
