Taken in the first decade of the 1900’s, this photo has exceptional clarity. In fact, i can zoom right in on the detail! This beautiful building was demolished in the 1950’s.

Calderwood is a neighbourhood of the Scottish new town of East Kilbride, in South Lanarkshire. It lies on its north-east edge and is one of the largest areas of the town. Calderwood is the second oldest planned neighbourhood in East Kilbride, [1] built about 1950, shortly after The Murray.

This large rectangular tower house stood in a bend of the Rotten Calder Water until 1773, when it collapsed into the gorge. It was illustrated by MacGibbon and Ross from a drawing of 1765, now in the Royal Scottish Academy, and known locally because of later additions which survived until the present century.
