Welding of Rebar - Structural engineering general discussion
2003年5月13日 · There is a rebar mill here in So Cal that manufactures rebar from old cars (as noted by dik), and lots of confiscated firearms. I have samples of rebar with cracks in the tack welds and plain old cracked welds. All were taken from jobs where the welder(s) said they knew how to weld rebar.

2003年9月19日 · A706 rebar is weldable. Rebar is sold in 40 and 60 foot lengths in addition to 20 foot lengths. The latter maybe hard to find in quantity, because most US mills are on allocation. There are a number of structural rebar connectors available that would make welding unnecessary. Good for you... the course is a wise choice.

2012年6月27日 · However, where the rebar is perpendicular to the flange this weld is not possible. We used a ½”filet weld-all around at this location. The Project Engineer was looking for a Full Penetration Weld to be applied here. Does the ½” Fillet Weld bring the rebar to full strength and thus satisfy this requirement? Thanks in advance.

2007年1月16日 · In the US, typical rebar is specified as ASTM A615, which is not weldable. When you need to weld the rebar, you spcify ASTM A706 material. If you are not in the US or do not use US designations, you will need to find your equivalent for your area. I would not specify welding rebar unless the material is weldable.
how to specify weld size for rebar to plate 1 - Eng-Tips
2011年4月22日 · In JAE's sketch, the number in parenthesis is the effective throat (weld size). The 6 denotes a 6" long weld. When the effective throat is not shown on the flare bevel groove weld symbol (like ajk1's attachment), the weld is assumed to be filled flush. For reinforcing (AWS D1.4), the effective throat when filled flush is 0.4 times the bar radius.
Welding Rebar to Steel? 1 - Eng-Tips
2001年12月27日 · One leg of the "L" in this case could be fully welded to the steel member. The weld should be strong enough allow the bar fail first before any unzipping or any detackment from the host steel member. Rebar is difficult to weld and the heat process of the welding process can degrade the load carrying capacity of the steel.
Rebar question? - Miller Welding Discussion Forums
2009年3月13日 · O.K. Thanks everyone. mainly what I was looking to do was on the walls. The walls will be 14 feet in height.Every 4 feet requires rebar and poured concrete through the cells of the brick. The prints call for rebar to bent over like a hook about every 5 feet in heigth to join with another, since its impracticle to have a single stick of rebar 14 feet high to slide a block down …

2005年5月24日 · If you must weld rebar, at least look up the welding specs, not, incidentally E 6010 or 11 ! I've seen rebar ladder rungs on really old stuff, but to my knowledge (remember I retired 10 years ago) rebar is legal to use in Los Angeles for only what rebar is intended for, reinforcing concrete!!!

2010年1月29日 · We typically have not called out weld size for welding rebar perpendicular to a steel plate (e.g. embed plate); instead we've always referenced AWS D1.4. Recently, a steel fabricator sent thru a change order because he had to …
