The Batavia is a Dutch East Indies ship that was wrecked off the coast of Western Australia around 1628. It caught our imagination as it's celebrated up-and-down the WA coast. We first saw the ballast, which had been excavated from the bottom of the ocean and reassembled as a Porticulus for the fort or castle in Batavia, Indonesia, in Geraldton.
