Calendula is a special plant. It packs a medicinal punch and it provides a bright pigment due to its flavonoids and carotenoids. It’s not an overly lightfast pigment (compared to other pigments I make but that doesn’t stop me from using it!) It grows abundantly in my garden and it self seeds so I don’t have to plant it.
