Chasing down a twister in Texas south of Vernon! This sped up view shows a segment of this April chase day, where the tornado was almost perfectly tracking along the highway. I had plans to intercept this tornado right as it crossed the highway when it turned north, but this twister disintegrated just before it reached that location. Even when you are careful, sometimes situations in storm chasing just turn dangeorous! On this day, we were chasing a wet-classic supercell that was definitely on the way to becoming HP. Thanks to a lake to our east, we only had a highway west and a highway going north. This was the last tornado we saw on a maxed-out day in Oklahoma. This was the Dibble-Goldsby EF4 tornado, which was rated as a 199mph EF-4 tornado. EF-5 tornadoes are classified as such, starting at 200mph. This was our third tornado of the day, after seeing the formation of the Piedmont-El Reno EF5 and the Chickasha EF4 (also rated 199mph). The team on this day was literally 2mph away from being *most likely* some of the only people on the planet to see three EF-5 tornadoes in a single day. | T
