It’s no secret that I love Navajo weaving and this 1890s Germantown is one of those textiles that really sums up why I love them so much. This piece tells an amazing story and shows what influenced this weaver at the time it was made. You see, the pictorial elements on this Germantown show two distinct pieces of Native American jewelry. The first is a primarily Pueblo jewelry motif of the cross or dragonfly necklace and the second is Navajo squash blossom. This imagery in concert with the vibran
